On today's podcast I celebrate the 75th birthday of Elvis Presley with a conversation with his cousin, Edie Hand who shares unique insights into his life, the humble beginnings that shaped him and her book, 'The Genuine Elvis' .
Edie, who grew up in a small town called Burnout in Alabama is an author, an actress, a publisher and a movie producer.
In her life she has suffered some huge setbacks but with "true grit" she has powered through and enjoyed considerable success.
Her experiences led her to founding the Edie Hand Foundation and an organisation called 'Women of True Grit' to support and inspire women who have suffered trauma in their lives.
She chats about her life, her career and at the tender age of 72 she shares her perspective on this "season" as she calls it.
She says "you can't get to beautiful if you have not been through hard"
Also, at the end of the show enjoy 'A Better Tomorrow' co-written by Edie and her daughter in law, Victoria Renee Hand and performed by Victoria.
Enjoy the show..
